Coronavirus Update 16.03.20

Dear Parents and Carers,

We regret to inform you that due to the recent developments regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus the school has decided to postpone the parents’ evenings that were due to take place on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th March until after the Easter holidays.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but I’m sure that you can understand that we need to consider the health and wellbeing of everyone in the St. Gabriel’s community at this time.

As you may be aware the government advice regarding the virus is that anyone who has a high temperature and/or a new continuous cough should not go to work or come to school, and should self-isolate for 7 days.

Further information can be found on the following website –

In line with our usual practice, if a child is unwell in school then parents will be contacted in the normal way. If your child is displaying symptoms in school, we will be sending them home. In these exceptional circumstances the school will take a cautious approach.

Please be vigilant and sensible when your children are not very well and ensure they are symptom-free before returning to school. Attendance registers will be noted accordingly should pupils be absent for the 7-day self-isolation period.

I’m sure you appreciate that the situation is changing on a daily basis and the school will continue to follow the advice we receive from the Local Authority and Public Health Wales and share this information as we receive it.

Thank you for your support and patience during this time.

Yours sincerely,
Mr J. Llewellyn
Interim Headteacher
