Class News

Year 2: Last Thursday, for their Launch Day, Dosbarth Rhaglan had a live virtual workshop from St Fagans. The children were able to ask the curator questions about life in Wales 2,000 years ago. They studied artefacts, including a human skeleton and tools that would have been used by the Celts. Linking in with our topic, Grand Designs, the class worked collaboratively to design and build different structures and made Iron Age Round houses using the knowledge they had acquired from their workshop. They even made their own clom (building material) minus the manure!

Year 6: Dosbarth Caernarfon enjoyed a Teams meeting with Deacon Pasquale last week.  The children interviewed him as part of their RE lesson to find out how the Holy Spirit helps him in his life and work.  They were grateful to him for giving us so much of his time and he inspired us to pray to the Holy Spirit whenever we need help to support others in our mission as Christians to spread the Good News.

Child Collection Policy

This week Governors have reviewed the Child Collection Policy and the decision has been made to change the age of responsibility for the person collecting your child from eighteen to sixteen.

If this means that you would like to make any changes to your child collection arrangements, please remember to contact school either via text or email to amend the details on your authorised collectors list.

Newport County AFC – Open Recruitment

Newport County AFC Academy are holding an open trial recruitment event on Friday 28^th May 2021, for next season’s U7 to U16 age groups.

Sports Day

We can’t confirm any plans for Sports Day at the present time though we wanted to reassure you that we are planning for a number of scenarios depending upon the level of restrictions and the Welsh Government Operational Guidelines for school nearer the time. Watch this space!

Reminder: Symptom Awareness

Please do not send your child to school if they have any of the following symptoms:

• A new and continuous cough
• A high temperature
• Loss of taste or smell

If any of these symptoms occur please book a Covid-19 test as soon as is possible and communicate the result to us via school text service or school email (day or night) as soon as you receive it.

If your child is not in school, for whatever reason, please do text, email or phone us with the reason as soon as possible on the day of absence, as this is part of the records we need to keep in these COVID times in addition to our normal safeguarding procedures.
